Josie, Jeff’s sister, has a deep and unwavering passion for the Special Olympics, a cause she has championed ever since she first formed a close friendship with two women who have cognitive disabilities. These friendships sparked a drive within Josie to become more involved, and she soon found herself dedicating her time and energy to a variety of roles within the Special Olympics community. She has served as a track coach, where she nurtured athletes’ abilities and encouraged their growth, and as a partner in volleyball and basketball, helping athletes compete and build confidence through sports. Additionally, Josie has been a dorm room counselor, offering support and guidance to athletes as they navigate their experiences.
Beyond her work with the Special Olympics, Josie has a profound love for horses, and she is dedicated to improving their lives. Her passion extends to advocating for their well-being, especially in the context of their use as therapy animals. Josie is committed to supporting programs that train horses to become therapy animals, recognizing the positive impact they can have on individuals in need. Her desire to make a difference in both the lives of people with disabilities and animals reflects her compassionate and giving nature.
