Recently, we had the opportunity to name a litter of puppies at Paws With a Cause. It was a lot of fun to choose a theme! Sponsoring a litter helps these puppies through the first phase of becoming Assistance Dogs. There are a few guidelines to follow when choosing names. We chose a “tree” theme for these adorable pups. Say hello to Cedar, Sage, Elmer, Olive, Asher, Oakley, and Myrtle! The names we chose will follow them through their lives and will be spoken by trainers, clients, and those in organizations from schools to hospitals.
We were able to tour the facility and play with the puppies, as well as get an education on the breeding of service dogs. It turns out that a LOT more goes into the breeding than we imagined. They can actually trace the lines of their breeding dogs back to the 1800s.
