The von Voigtlander Family Foundation’s mission is to make the world a better place by being part of the building and strengthening of those in need of assistance. Our areas of focus are animals, conservation and recreation, military veterans, and youth. This is the seventh year that our foundation has awarded a scholarship to a deserving Whitmore Lake High School graduate entering the trades. This year we are pleased to award scholarships to two deserving graduates.
Ethan Poole – The first student was a 4 year member of the First Robotics, bowling team and wrestled for 1 year. He was able to take an automotive class through WL’s extension offerings and it was because of this class that he discovered his passion. He will be attending North Central Michigan College in Petoskey in the fall to get his Associates Degree in Business and plans to open his own automotive shop in the future. He believes if it weren’t for the automotive class has was able to take in high school, he would not know what direction to take after high school. We are so glad you were able to find your passion Ethan Poole! Congratulations
Blake Rooke – The 2nd scholarship recipient is a 4 year member of the choir. This student says choir helped him improve his confidence. He chose to get involved and help his community by volunteering for 2 years during the annual Key Club blood drive. He loves to fish and kayak and enjoys photography. He will be attending Michigan Institute of Aviation Technology in Canton in the fall for aircraft maintenance and repair and plans to pursue a job as a Delta Mechanic. Congratulations Blake Rooke!!
